7 Years Already

Can you believe it has been 7 years since the 9/11 attack? It is weird for me to think our kids will read about this event in their history book, yet we lived it. Remember how the entire nation came together and helped one another, what happened to all that? I can still remember where I was when I heard the horrible news... I was living in a Mesa Apartment with Heather (Kinneberg) Fogelson. I just woke up and was about to get in the shower to get ready to go to work and Heather was at the sink curling her hair and said that we were under attack. I thought she was saying that we (her and I) were under attack and I said "whatever" then she pointed to the TV and I froze. Can you remember what you were doing the exact moment you heard or saw the life changing news?

I can. I was up getting ready for work sitting on the bathroom counter puting on my mascara. I was listening to 104.7 and the Afro Man getting high song was on. It was in the 3rd verse when they stopped the music and announced the first tower had been hit by a plane. I ran and turned on the tv and watched the playing of the second tower getting hit. My heart stopped. I was in shock for about the next week!

And I'm 100% with you, it's strange to think our kids will learn and read all about this and it's something that we lived thru. I always felt that this stuff was for the "old" people to tell about and and now it's US. Oooh, crazy stuff.

It always makes me cry. I was in the waiting room at my last OB appointment, with the twins, watching the first plane hit. Jon was taking a test in Medical school when the first fell!

I remember it so well too! I was with Heather Lyon and we had spent the night at a friends house. That friend came and woke us up to tell us that America was under attack and that planes were crashing into the World Trade Centers. We didn't know what that all meant because we were so out of it from being woken up. Me and Heather then got in the car and as we were driving, it was all over every radio station. We just drove in silence to GCC for a volleyball practice as we listened to every detail of what was going on. Then after practice, I remember driving to Heather's sisters house and watching the planes hit the towers on TV. It was crazy!!!! I will never forget when we had a home game the next day and everyone had tears in their eyes as we all stood up to listen to the national anthem, with our hands over our hearts. It meant so much to everyone. We all stood there in silence and stared at the flag. I think we ended up winning that game too! But I will never forget that day and how it felt. Crazy stuff!
